Staying Digitally Ahead : Building Self-Sustainable Newsrooms
Panel DiscussionOne of the biggest challenges that the Digital Media
Conclave will be discussing is Building Self-Sustainable
Newsrooms. As Indian media companies and professionals
keep astride the evolving digital space while exploring
or running the self-made business model, how sustainable
will this effort be? Can these ventures pay you the
dividends, to keep doing what you do, independently?
Some questions we will ask include:
- What is the “it” factor that keeps successful digital news companies or startups riding the wave, while others seem to be fighting to catch it?
- How to sustain the Subscription Game given an explosion of Media Websites?

Staying Digitally Ahead: Measuring Digital Media- What are the Numbers that Matter?
WorkshopAs metrics becomes the buzzword in digital newsrooms, measuring digital media is turning into a craft rather than a numerical pegging of reach or spread. Data has transformed into a personality that has many sides and it is important to know which side you are looking at or projecting. This workshop with Ashwani will shed light to the process of understanding the building blocks of metrics that defines numbers that matter.

Staying Digitally Ahead : What about Credibility?
Panel DiscussionCredibility can be the crowning jewel or the elephant in
the room, in a newsroom. Depends on how one sees it. The
rigours of journalism are mostly understood to have laid
the foundation that held the fourth pillar of democracy
in its place.
Some questions we will ask include:
- How have the best and the worst newsrooms fared when it comes to dealing with click-bait in its conventional and contemporary forms?
- Has the mad rush for numbers and the dire need to get the metrics right, led many newsrooms to compromise on the art of verification and telling the truth as is?

Adds another layer Social media can help you listen for trends, ideas, and where things are going. It can also help you build out your brand, and it can also bring attention, traffic, sales to the work you do. So depending on the industry you’re in, social media’s absolutely critical for everything you do in business. It doesn’t replace your traditional ways of doing business. What it does, it adds another layer of let’s face it, complexity, but also opportunity.Sree Srinivasan, Former Chief Digital Officer, The Metropolitan Museum of Art
